Religious 29: The Iran War and the Abrahamic Accord
Eph 5:11: “..have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”
Amos 3:7 “…God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
Why this post?
To examine what the 2026 Iran war is really about—and how the Abrahamic Accord fits into the prophetic picture.
Introduction
As I write this, the smoke hasn’t even cleared yet. On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched nearly 900 strikes in 12 hours against Iran—killing Supreme Leader Khamenei, decimating military infrastructure, and hitting everything from nuclear sites to petrochemical facilities. Iran fired back with hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel and US bases across the Gulf. Over 2,000 Iranians have been killed. A fragile two-week ceasefire was brokered in early April 2026, with talks underway in Islamabad.
To what end?
The media is focused on nuclear enrichment and ballistic missiles. That’s the surface. And the deeper you go, the more prophetic the picture becomes.
I see four layers. Let me walk you through them.
Layer A: The Nuclear Pretext
Here’s what they told you. Iran was enriching uranium, stockpiling enough 60% enriched material for roughly 11 nuclear bombs. The IAEA was raising alarms. Trump’s deadline expired. Action was needed.
Fair enough on paper. But here’s what makes this uncomfortable.
Just one day before the strikes—on February 27—Oman’s foreign minister announced a breakthrough in negotiations. Iran had agreed to never stockpile enriched uranium and to full IAEA verification. He said peace was “within reach.” Talks were set to resume on March 2.
They never got the chance. The bombs started falling the next morning.
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had testified in March 2025 that the intelligence community assessed Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. The IAEA itself said there was no evidence of a structured weapons program when the 2026 war began.
The UK House of Commons Library analysis noted the attacks came when Iran was “arguably at its weakest point for some years”—protests, sanctions, degraded defences from the 2025 Twelve-Day War. The Trump administration gave diverse and changing explanations for starting the war—pre-empt retaliation, imminent threat, destroy missiles, regime change, even “secure Iran’s natural resources.”
So if the nuclear threat wasn’t as imminent as advertised... what was this really about?
Layer B: The Petrodollar Challenge
There’s a quieter war underneath the missiles. For decades, global oil has been traded in US dollars—the so-called petrodollar system. It’s what keeps the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. It’s what lets America print money without the consequences that would cripple any other nation.
Iran has been one of several countries actively shifting oil trades away from the dollar—toward the Chinese yuan and other currencies. China and Saudi Arabia conducted their first yuan-settled oil trade in 2023. Russia pivoted to yuan-denominated oil sales after the Ukraine sanctions. Iran signed a 25-year strategic cooperation agreement with China in 2021, deepening non-dollar trade channels. The BRICS nations have been openly discussing an alternative reserve currency framework.
This isn’t conspiracy. It’s economics. And it’s a direct threat to American financial dominance.
The strikes didn’t just hit nuclear facilities. They hit petrochemical facilities accounting for 85% of Iran’s exports. The Strait of Hormuz was closed. Oil prices spiked globally. Bangladesh closed universities early. Pakistan and the Philippines declared four-day work weeks. The IMF warned that every 10% increase in energy prices would raise global inflation by nearly half a percent.
Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the war’s biggest cheerleaders, wasn’t shy about it. On Fox News he said: “When this regime goes down, we’re gonna have a new Mideast. We’re gonna make a ton of money.”
But even this isn’t the deepest layer.
(I covered the economic dimension of these power plays in more detail in Post 26 on Programmable Money. The dollar, digital currencies, buying and selling—it’s all connected.)
Layer C: The Israel Project—A Religious War
Now we get into territory that most media won’t touch. But the leaders themselves are saying it openly.
Senator Lindsey Graham called the Iran conflict a “religious war” that will “determine the course of the Middle East for a thousand years.” A thousand years. That’s millennium language. From a US senator.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth opened his tenure by referencing 4th century Rome:
“Those who long for peace must prepare for war.”
He renamed the Pentagon the “Department of War.” German media reported that US military commanders were describing the strikes on Iran as “part of God’s holy plan.” The Military Religious Freedom Foundation documented over 200 similar reports from roughly 50 US military installations.
Der Spiegel—Germany’s most influential news magazine—ran a major piece titled “Gotteskrieger” (Holy Warriors) documenting how religious rhetoric is permeating the US war effort. Evangelical leaders gathered in the Oval Office to pray for victory. Trump himself has been justifying the war with Bible references.
And then there’s the Tucker Carlson-Mike Huckabee interview. In a nearly three-hour confrontation in February 2026, Carlson pressed the US Ambassador to Israel on whether Israel’s claim to land is based on legal or historical precedent—or religious promise. He quoted Genesis 15—God promising land from “the Nile to the Euphrates”—and asked whether Israel has a divine claim to what is, effectively, most of the Middle East.
Huckabee’s response: “It would be fine if they took it all.”
That quote prompted condemnation from virtually every country in the Middle East. Al Jazeera noted the interview highlighted “the growing suspicion that American officials may be more loyal to a foreign country than they are to the US.”
Then there’s the Tucker Carlson interview with Avraham Burg—former Speaker of the Knesset and interim President of Israel—in March 2026. Burg described it bluntly: “October 7 was the first round of the full-scale religious war between Jewish fundamentalism of the Israeli government and Muslim fundamentalism of Hamas.”
Carlson even raised the question—does the Israeli far right aspire to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque to build the Third Temple? Burg confirmed that extremist settlers had indeed attempted it on several occasions.
The drive for the Third Temple isn’t fringe—it’s openly discussed. Jewish leaders have compared Trump to Cyrus the Great, the Persian king God used (Isaiah 45) to let the Jews return from exile and rebuild the Temple (Ezra 1). In a widely circulated video, a prominent rabbi declared at a public rally:
“You, President Donald J. Trump, are a colossus who will be enshrined in the pantheon of history... Cyrus the Great.”
He linked Trump’s ear being grazed in the 2024 assassination attempt to Exodus 21:6—where a servant’s right ear is pierced.
What they seem to forget is this:
In Matthew 24:2 (KJV), Jesus tells his disciples while looking at the Temple in Jerusalem: “And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Roman army destroyed the second temple 70AD; and
Then in 363 AD under Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate wanted to disprove Jesus’ prophecy. Work began in May 363 AD under his official Alypius of Antioch. But the project failed almost immediately due to a series of strange, violent events that eyewitness and near-contemporary accounts describe as supernatural or highly unusual:
A sudden tempest, earthquake, and strong winds hit the site.
Then terrifying balls of fire (or “horrible balls of flame”) repeatedly burst forth from near the foundations/ground, scorching and burning some workmen to death.
These fiery outbursts made the area inaccessible and continued despite repeated attempts to resume work.
Tools reportedly melted, and some accounts mention glowing spots or residue on clothing.
The pagan Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus (a member of Julian’s own circle and not a Christian) recorded it this way: the workmen were driven off by “fearful balls of fire” that kept bursting out, scorching them until they could approach no more, forcing Alypius to abandon the effort:
Soldiers sport a badge of the 3rd temple:

Some have set a deadline. According to certain rabbinical sources, the “absolute deadline for redemption” is the end of the Jewish year 5787, which corresponds to October 2, 2027. It’s worth noting that the Jewish calendar appears to be several hundred years short—they don’t incorporate the Medo-Persian period of biblical chronology into their count. When those time blocks are included, 2027 aligns closely with approximately 6,000 years from creation by biblical reckoning.
If the Temple is rebuilt and the sacrificial system reinstated, it declares—in stone and mortar—that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was insufficient. It is a direct denial of the once-for-all atonement described in Hebrews 10. When Jesus died the temple veil was torn. Anyone can now get access to God through the perfect sacrifice.
(See my Post 9 on Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream and Post 11 on Prophetic Timelines for the broader prophetic framework.)
Layer D: The Abrahamic Accord—The Ultimate Endgame
Here’s the deepest layer. Everything above—the nuclear pretext, the petrodollar war, the religious war framing—all of it serves this. The expansion of the Abraham Accords into a geopolitical-religious framework that aims to unite the three monotheistic faiths under one political umbrella.
The original Accords were brokered by Trump in 2020—normalizing relations between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan. His second term has been all about expansion. Kazakhstan joined in November 2025. Somaliland is next. Syria and Lebanon are in discussions. Saudi Arabia—the crown jewel—has indicated willingness, provided there’s a pathway to Palestinian statehood.
Even a coin:
The Heritage Foundation’s quarterly report on the Accords documents the momentum: a 431% surge in cross-border private tech funding, a $36 billion natural gas deal between Israel, Egypt, and the EU, a $2.3 billion UAE defence contract with Elbit Systems. This is economic integration on steroids.
And it’s the same Heritage Foundation that produced Project 2025—the blueprint for reshaping the US government along conservative religious lines. The same organisation pushing for the Accords is also behind the push for religious legislation in America. That overlap should concern anyone watching the prophecies of Revelation 13.
Iran was the holdout. The Shia pole that opposed the entire framework. Graham himself warned that if the Iranian regime survives, “the Abraham Accords will eventually fall.” The war and the Accords are two sides of the same coin.
When Trump’s ambassador David Friedman explained the Accords’ name, he said Abraham “was the father of all three great faiths” and “no person better symbolizes the potential for unity.” Notice: it’s the Abrahamic faith. Not the Christian faith. Not a Protestant faith. A term broad enough to include Judaism, Islam, and Christianity—without requiring agreement on who Jesus Christ is.
Can two walk together unless they agree? (Amos 3:3).
You can live in peace with someone you disagree with. Absolutely. But you cannot have a spiritual accord with them. That’s the distinction nobody wants to make.
(For more on how ecumenism works and why it matters, see my Post 8 on Roman Catholicism vs Protestantism.)
Shia vs Sunni: The Ancient Rift Iran Embodies
To understand why Iran had to be neutralized for this plan to work, you need to understand the Shia-Sunni divide. Islam split in the 7th century over succession after Muhammad. Sunnis—the majority—follow community consensus. Shia follow Ali’s bloodline. Iran is the world’s dominant Shia power.
This isn’t just ancient history. It fuels proxy wars right now. Iran backs Shia Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthis in Yemen, and militias in Iraq. The Sunni Gulf states—Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain—are on the other side. And they’re the ones in the Accords.
Weakening the Shia pole is positioned to make Sunni-Israeli normalization far easier under the Abrahamic umbrella. Whether that fully materialises remains to be seen—but the conditions are being deliberately created.
The Pope’s Ecumenical Hand—and the King’s New Chair
Rome has been playing a long game. Pope Francis signed the Document on Human Fraternity with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in 2019. Vatican-Shia and Vatican-Sunni dialogue forums have been ongoing for decades. This isn’t opposition—it’s strategic coexistence. All faiths under one roof, with Rome steering.
A little further back, the protestant realm was incorporated by the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification.
In 2014, Tony Palmer—a bishop and ecumenical officer close to Pope Francis—told a gathering of Pentecostal leaders at Kenneth Copeland’s conference that “the protest is over.” He played a personal iPhone video from Pope Francis urging all Christians to set aside their divisions and unite. Copeland’s audience rose to their feet cheering. Palmer later visited the Vatican with Copeland and other televangelists for a three-hour lunch with the Pope. Set aside doctrine. Unity is what matters. That’s Rome’s message.

To Tony Palmer it seems that doctrines do not matter:

I disagree.
And now we have Pope Leo XIV—the first American pope, elected May 2025—who has made interfaith dialogue the defining priority of his pontificate.
On July 3, 2026, the National Constitution Center will award him the Liberty Medal at a ceremony on Independence Mall in Philadelphia—the eve of America’s 250th birthday. The award recognizes his “lifelong work promoting religious liberty.” He’ll deliver remarks live from the Vatican, streamed to the crowd in front of Independence Hall.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church. Receiving an award from America. On the eve of its founding anniversary. At the site where the Constitution was signed. If you’ve read my Post 15 on the Second Beast, you know what this signifies. The lamb that speaks like a dragon. Protestantism finally in shatters.
At some point the Pope will likely be set to tame Trump even though they’ve been working together to set the stage (see King of the North and South in Daniel):
And then there’s King Charles. On October 23, 2025, King Charles III and Pope Leo XIV prayed together in the Sistine Chapel—the first time a British monarch and a pope have publicly worshipped together since Henry VIII broke from Rome in 1534. Five hundred years. Let that sink in.
The Vatican gave Charles a new title—”Royal Confrater” of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. A specially commissioned throne-like chair was installed for him in the basilica, bearing his coat of arms and the Latin motto “Ut unum sint”—”That they may be one.” It will remain permanently for his successors. In return, Charles made Pope Leo a “Papal Confrater” of St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Obviously, the Pope is at the center:
Buckingham Palace called these “deeply symbolic of the journey the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church have traveled over the past 500 years.” One Anglican reverend said: “This would have been impossible just a generation ago.”
The Reformation is being reversed. In public. With ceremony. With chairs and titles and choirs singing under Michelangelo’s Last Judgment.
God’s Warriors: Hegseth and the Crusade Ethos
Pete Hegseth has a Jerusalem Cross tattooed on his chest and “Deus Vult” (God wills it) on his bicep. He has a sword-in-a-cross referencing Matthew 10:34 with “Yeshua” in Hebrew on the blade. And—revealed in March 2025—the Arabic word “kafir” (infidel) below the Deus Vult tattoo.
Medieval historian Daniel Lecaque was blunt: “There is no version of Deus Vult that means anything other than Crusader fanboy... It’s a call to religious violence.”
He wrote American Crusade: Our Fight to Stay Free in 2020. A few years later he’s Secretary of Defense. The crusaders were papal knights. The Knights Templars. And here is a man with their symbols permanently etched on his body, leading the US military.
He’s a Protestant—attends a Reformed Evangelical church. But his body is covered in Roman Catholic crusader imagery. German media asked the obvious question: why does an evangelical have papal insignia tattooed on his body?
Christian Nationalism, Davos, and the Machine
This isn’t isolated. It’s systemic.
Trump’s executive orders have hammered antisemitism enforcement while simultaneously signing orders on anti-Christian discrimination. Videos show him hosting Orthodox, Catholic, Jewish, and evangelical leaders at the White House—all under one roof, all supporting the same agenda.
Trump held a National Prayer event in 2025 and felt that Church and State aught not be separate. That is the final nail. Trump: “all right, let's forget about that.”
3 monotheistic religions huddled together by the second beast.
Dr. Jeremiah Johnston became the first academic ever invited to present evidence for the resurrection of Jesus at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026. The Washington Post sponsored the session. On the Shawn Ryan Show in April 2026, Johnston revealed they’ve invited him back for next year—to run the entire faith section.
I’m not against someone presenting evidence for the resurrection—far from it. But think about what’s happening. Davos. The global elite. The same people pushing digital IDs and global governance. Now they want a faith section? It feels like the lamb speaking like a dragon (Revelation 13:11). Christianity being co-opted—not to spread the true gospel, but to give religious legitimacy to a global political system.
The Three Faiths and the Catholic Question
The Abrahamic Accord groups three religions that fundamentally disagree on Christ. What they do agree on, is that His role is diminished even though the Bible clearly notes that through Him is the only way. Islam denies that God had a Son—Jesus was merely a prophet. Judaism is waiting for a Messiah who is decidedly not Jesus.
And Roman Catholicism—which is absorbing Protestantism through ecumenism—denies the sufficiency of Christ’s atonement in practice.
How? Through purgatory—implying the cross wasn’t enough to fully cleanse sin. Through indulgences—a system of earning or purchasing remission. Through priestly absolution—where a man presumes to forgive sins that only God can forgive. Through the Mass—which re-sacrifices Christ in every service, denying the once-for-all nature of Calvary. Through the intercession of saints and Mary—adding mediators between man and God when Scripture says there is only one (1 Timothy 2:5).
This is the faith that is overtaking Protestantism. Not through conquest—through ecumenism. Through men like Tony Palmer saying “the protest is over.” Through chairs in basilicas and Liberty Medals and shared prayers in the Sistine Chapel.
The Bible is clear: salvation comes only through Abraham’s seed—which is Christ (Galatians 3:16). Not through a political accord named after Abraham.
Sharia, Coexistence, and the Ancient Model Revived
In the ancient Near East, deities were considered regional. You didn’t dethrone a people’s god. You could keep your religion and political structure, as long as it fitted into the larger imperial system.
This is exactly what the Abrahamic Accord does. Islam can be Islamic. Judaism can be Jewish. Christianity can be Christian. Everyone keeps their regional deity. Just don’t proselytize. Don’t claim your God is the only way.
Pope Francis expressed this same philosophy. Russia codified it into law in 2016 with anti-evangelism legislation—believe what you want privately, but don’t spread it. Under Sharia law, Islam demands supremacy in regions it controls—which creates its own conflicts with the papal model, but the Accord framework attempts to smooth these over through economic incentives and political pressure.
Wikipedia: including a ban on the performance of "missionary activities" in non-religious settings.
But What Did Jesus Actually Say?
This should silence every crusader, every holy warrior, every politician wrapping themselves in the cross to justify war.
Jesus never fought evil with evil. Full stop.
When Peter drew his sword and cut off the ear of the Roman soldier in Gethsemane, Jesus rebuked him:
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. (Matthew 26:52).
Then—in an act of staggering grace—he healed the enemy’s ear (Luke 22:51).
He could have called for reinforcements. He explicitly said so:
“Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53).
But he didn’t.
He told Pilate directly:
“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (John 18:36).
If my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight. They don’t. Because it isn’t.
“Love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44). “Turn the other cheek” (Matthew 5:39). “Bless those who curse you” (Luke 6:28). “Do not repay evil with evil” (Romans 12:17).
Does that sound like “Deus Vult”? Does that sound like “those who long for peace must prepare for war”? Does that sound like a religious war to determine the Middle East for a thousand years?
Jesus warned exactly about this.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven... I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you’” (Matthew 7:21-23).
The Prophetic Sweep: Daniel and Revelation
World powers are trying to set up an earthly kingdom. Jews want their millennial kingdom. Dispensationalist Christians want to help them build it. Catholics want ecumenical unity with Rome in charge. Islam wants its own version under Sharia. Three monotheistic faiths, all chasing a local millennium built by human hands.
But Daniel saw something different. The stone cut without hands that smashes the image—Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, the divided kingdoms—and fills the whole earth (Daniel 2:34-35). No human hands. No political accords.
Christ’s kingdom is not of this world. When it comes, it sweeps away all man-made kingdoms. The Abrahamic Accord, for all its noble language, is scaffolding for what prophecy calls the image of the beast (Revelation 13:14-15). A political-religious system that looks like a lamb but speaks like a dragon.
(For the full prophetic framework, see my posts on The First Beast, The Second Beast, The Mark, King of the North, and End of Days.)
Ellen G. White’s Warning
White saw this with extraordinary clarity. 150 years ago:
“Protestants will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience.” — Great Controversy, p. 588
“When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” — Great Controversy, p. 445
“The so-called Christian world is to be the theater of great and decisive actions. Men in authority will enact laws controlling the conscience, after the example of the papacy. Babylon will make all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” — Maranatha, p. 179
“The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.” — Education, p. 57
The war, the Accords, the ecumenical movement, the Liberty Medal, the royal chair in the basilica—it’s all scaffolding. False peace movements, papal-led ecumenism, professed Christians building earthly kingdoms while rejecting the true gospel. The final deception blends religions under a counterfeit system—while the real Christ returns to destroy all man-made kingdoms.
Remember what Paul wrote:
“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” — 1 Thess 5:3 (KJV)
whydoneit?
The evidence is mounting faster than I can keep up with.
The war in Iran isn’t about nuclear weapons or oil—not really. It’s about clearing the path for a religious-political system that prophecy warned about thousands of years ago. The Abrahamic Accord is the framework. Maybe it’s the Pope’s ecumenical movement of his JDDJ. Who knows. The Pope is being positioned as the global moral authority. American military power is the enforcement arm. And all three monotheistic faiths are being herded into an earthly kingdom that Christ never authorised.
Daniel noted that the King of the North shall come with economic and military power. The symbolism unpacked here:
Jesus said His kingdom is not of this world. He healed His enemy’s ear. He told Peter to put away his sword. He could have called twelve legions of angels—but He didn’t. He said “I never knew you” to those who did great works in His name but never consulted Him in the endeavor.
The stone cut without hands is coming — every man-made kingdom to dust.
